NKY counties declare snow emergencies, travel advisories

  NORTH Kentucky (WXIX) - A snow emergency has been declared in two Kentucky counties due to hazardous weather conditions.


  Bracken and Kenton counties declared a snow emergency Sunday night.


  Kenton County declared a Level 1 Snow Emergency shortly before 8:30 pm.  Sunday.


  Bracken County declared a Level 2 Snow Emergency around 7:30 pm, just an hour after the Level 1 declaration.


  A level 1 snow emergency means that “roads are dangerous with blizzards and/or drifts, roads may be covered with ice.  Careful driving is recommended."


  A level 2 snow emergency means that “roads are dangerous due to snow, ice, or a combination of both.  Only motorists whose passage is necessary should be on the roadway.  Residents are urged to contact employers to see if they need to report to work."


  Campbell and Pendleton counties also issued Level 1 travel advisories due to hazardous road conditions.
